Time is money. Money is time. This is the main philosophy behind valuing assets around us. Hence, the sessions will start with the topic of Time Value of Money. Participants will get fluent in using financial mathematics operators which will help them in valuing equity and fixed income securities. Next, we will dive into the methods of finding the price on a bond. How many different types of fixed income securities out there? How do we price them? Then, the sessions will move into equity valuation. The participants will learn the differences between common stock and preferred stocks.

Valuation is an important concept which is critically dependent on forecasting future cash flows and discount rates. The 4-day session will teach the cash flow and discount rate estimations in a detailed manner. Weighted average cost of capital will also be covered. Students will learn to find the weighted average cost of capital for any company given the balance sheet information.

Modern Portfolio Theory, allocation of assets into efficient portfolios, asset pricing models will be briefly covered. Finally, derivative securities will be introduced. Several derivative strategies will be covered in detail. Students will learn to use specific strategies in specific cases.

Finally, we will focus on career choices of the participants. How should one proceed with a career in finance given their undergraduate major? Masters of Science in Finance? MBA with a concentration in Finance? Ph.D in Finance? Or working for a certain field in a company?

Final part of the sessions will not only focus on the career decisions of students who will certainly be in the field of finance. We will also go over those decisions for people who considers Finance as a secondary field.
