Ayşe Kadıoğlu is Professor of Political Science at Sabancı University. She has been a faculty member at Sabancı University since 1998. She holds a PhD in Political Science (1990, Boston University), M.A. in International Relations (1984, The University of Chicago), B.S. in Political Science (1982, Middle East Technical University).
She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Sakıp Sabancı Museum in Istanbul. She is a Member of the Executive Board of the Education Reform Initiative at Sabancı University. She is a member of the Advisory Board of the Istanbul Policy Center, Sabancı University, Stiftung Mercator Initiative. She has been a regular participant of Yale Law School’s ongoing annual Middle East Legal Studies Seminar since 2004. She is one of the Advisors for the online network Free Speech Debate. She was a deputy member of the Board of Directors of the Hrant Dink Foundation in Istanbul between 2011-2015 and a member of the International Hrant Dink Awards Committee between 2011-2016. She was a Visiting Scholar and Senior Associate Member at St Antony’s College, Oxford University in 2005 and 2010. She was a member of the Advisory Board of Bucerius PhD Program in Migration Studies, Zeit Stiftung between 2010-2013. She was a member of an Advisory Group of Council of Europe and co-authored a report titled Living Together: Combining Diversity and Freedom in 21st Century Europe in 2011.
Her fields of research are migration and citizenship studies, comparative nationalisms, political ideologies in Turkey, early twentieth century liberal thinkers in Turkey, women and Islam, Turkish secularism, memory and democracy.
She is the author of various articles in Middle East Journal, Middle Eastern Politics, International Migration, Muslim World, Citizenship Studies, Critique: Critical Middle Eastern Studies, Middle East Law and Governance, Philosophy and Social Criticism.

K. Ozgur Demirtas is a Chair Professor of Finance at the Sabanci University, Istanbul, Turkey. Professor Demirtas received his BS degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bogazici University in Istanbul. He received his Ph.D. in Finance degree from Boston College in 2003. In the same year, he was appointed as a tenure-track assistant professor at Baruch College, City University of New York. In 2003, he earned the best teaching award within the finance department; in 2004, he earned the best teaching award in the Business School; in 2005, he was elected as the best teacher within all departments and the schools of the University and received the Presidential Teaching Excellence Award. He published in prestigious academic journals (Journal of Monetary Economics, Management Science, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Journal of Business Economic and Statistics). He has more than 30 academic publications.
In 2007, he earned a tenured position in US. In 2010, he was listed within top 20 professors out of more than 1 million professors in US, UK, Canada and Scotland. More than 10 million student evaluations are used for the rankings.
In 2012, he joined Sabanci University as a chair professor of finance. As of 2014, in addition to his academic role, he is holding a founding chairman position of the Center of Excellence in Finance at Sabanci University.
Professor Demirtas, is also a founding board member of the first Financial Literacy Association of Turkey (FODER), and was a senior consultant of Young Businessmen Association of Turkey (TUGIAD), Association of Automotive Parts & Components Manufacturers (TAYSAD), Turkish Natural Catastrophe Insurance Pool (DASK), as well as several corporations. In a two year period between 2014 and 2015, he gave more than 70 Keynote Speeches to local and international corporations.
Associate Professor Atılgan received his BA in Management from Boğaziçi University in 2003, his MS in Finance from University of Rochester in 2005 and his PhD in Finance from City University of New York in 2010. In the same year, he joined Sabanci University School of Management as an Assistant Professor. In 2015, he earned the tittle of Associate professor.
Professor Atılgan’s research interests include determinants of equity returns, derivative markets, fixed-income instruments and asset pricing in emerging markets. His research has been published in prestigious academic journals such as Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking and Journal of Business & Economic Statistics among others. He has also co-authored a book on risks and returns of investing in hedge funds published by Academic Press (Elsevier).
Professor Atılgan teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on investments, portfolio theory, fixed-income analytics, financial management and corporate valuation. He is also a CFA charterholder.
